Lots of people have raised the issue of the new bins with me. Although most people are really keen to recycle as much waste as they can, some of us are a bit confused about how the scheme is operating. Quite a few residents find having four bins difficult when they only have a small garden area or if their back alley is narrow and full of bins from neighbours.

I have raised this issue with the Council and smaller bins are available – you can ring the Council on 0161 909 6500 to request smaller bins and there is a pilot scheme in Broughton where residents should be able to request recycling boxes/bags if the bins are too big. Please do let me know if you are having any trouble with the refuse collection arrangements and I will do my best to help – we all want to help the environment by doing our bit to recycle but let’s try and make it easy for everyone to do the right thing.
